About the Doctors

Dr. John Lawson

Hi, I'm John, and I'm very excited you are considering Orthodontic Health Center. I graduated from the University of Missouri in 1984(GO TIGERS!) and continued on to the University of Missouri-Kansas City for my dental and orthodontic training. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists. I graduated from the Roth Williams Center for Functional Occlusion after my graduated training and was treasurer of the Roth Williams International Society of Orthodontists for 10 years. I have lectured numeerous time around the United States including talks to the OBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry annual meeting, Minnesota Association of Restorative Dentists and the Midwest Dental Conference. Most of my continuing education is in the area of orthodontics and temporomandibular function. I have previously been on the faculty at the University of Missouri Kansas City Dental school as an orthodontic instructor.

My wife, Maureen, has her Master's Degree in dental hygiene and taught for nine years. I have two children, Megan and Johnny. Megan is an accomplished and diver and is currently attending the College of St. Benedict. She is still diving and hopes to become a physical therapist. Johnny plays every sport he can with his favorites being soccer, basketball and track (pole vault). He was recently on the stated championship soccer team at Lourdes high school. What an amazing time that was!

I enjoy all sports, but soccer and fishing are my favorites. I enjoy fishing for trout with a fly rod the most but any kind of fishing suits me fine!

I am on the Lourdes Foundation Board, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoy volunteering for the organizations and schools that my children have been involved in or attended.

We hope you choose us here at the Orthodontic Health Center and we look forward to meeting you!

Dr. Wayne Sletten

Welcome, I’m Wayne. I trust that you will find your time here enjoyable and well spent. I am pleased to introduce myself, my family and my great supportive team! Together we strive to grow personally and professionally to deliver care at the highest level.

I began my practice in Albert Lea in 1967, after attending Concordia College and receiving my Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees and my Master's degree in Orthodontics (M.S.D.) from the University of Minnesota. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, an examining and testing board aspiring to promote excellence in Orthodontics. I have enjoyed extensive studies in the fields of temporomandibular joint dysfunction and chronic pain and surgical orthodontics. I enjoy teaching and lecturing on occlusion and TMJ. The year 2000 brought me to Spain as program chair for the annual meeting of an international study group. The year 2001 brought me to Toronto as President of the Roth/Williams International Society of Orthodontists. Advancement in orthodontics now is led by people worldwide. I now teach part time in the Orthodontic Department at the University of Minnesota with my son, Daniel.

My wife, Jackie and I have four children. Mark, a remarkable experience with a Down’s child. Paul, a Concordia College graduate and a 1991 graduate of University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in Colorado Springs along with Christina, his Danish wife, dentist and mother of their two children Emma and Noah. Jill Marie, a Concordia graduate who is married to Steven Streich of Kalispell, Montana. They are the parents of Paul Steven, Sydne Mari, and Gretta Jacquelyn. Daniel, a 1993 Concordia graduate, 1999 graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, and a 2001 graduate of the University of Iowa in orthodontics. He is married to Jennifer Senske of Albert Lea, a dietary counselor. Their three boys are Jacob, Anders, and Macallan. They keep our lives busy and full of fun.

Sharing with the community has been an extension of our family’s faith. I have enjoyed working with First Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts, YMCA, Kiwanis, and others. Fun and happiness come from sharing with my wife and family, hunting, fishing, golf, skiing, and most important-spending time together.

I welcome the opportunity to meet you and to be of service to you.
